I spent my 20s and 30s chasing aviation adventures. I reworked a C-140 that had flipped on landing, installed high lift kits on Cessna 400 series aircraft and learned to fly, My real love was working on DC-3s, which I did in Renton, Washington, Laredo, Texas and Soldotna, Alaska.
I've worked as a flight deck final checker on aircraft carriers, been Director of Maintenance for more than one outfit and owned a small aircraft maintenance shop in Alaska
In 1992, after moving back to California and while working for the Cessna Pilots Association, I started writing articles for the association magazine. In 2000 the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) hired me as an associate editor. AOPA published over 175 of my articles covering topics ranging from personality profiles to destination pieces to maintenance-related how-to articles for aircraft owners
I My broad spectrum aviation experience is the basis of my writing viewpoint
